My Membership
How do I apply?
You can apply here. Check out the membership options and documents you may need to send us before you fill out the form. We will email you an invoice once your form has been processed and accepted.
I am already a professional member of NZAC, what are the benefits of joining another association?
By joining ANZAPT, you are signalling your committment to upholding the highest standards of practice for Child-Centred Play Therapy. At this early stage in our association's existence, ANZAPT is working towards recognition of CCPT within many government agencies and organisations. Our aim is that these organisations will look for ANZAPT CCPT practitioners to provide the highest quality, developmentally appropriate therapy for children in Aotearoa. We are busy advocating for this behind the scenes and we will update you on our progress. For now, we appreciate the support you provide as a member which will demonstrate to government agencies and organisations the number of qualified CCPT practitioners in Aotearoa. We believe that we can be more impactful when we are united in numbers within one organisation. We invite you to join our association to show support for our profession in Child-Centred Play Therapy.
Will you be issuing Annual Practicing Certificates?
Yes we will be issuing Proviosional Practicing Certificates for Provisional members and Annual Practising Certificates for Registered CCPT-R members and Registered Supervisor CCPT-S members. These certificates will be subject to members fulfilling and maintaining professional standards. Found out more here.
Can I give up my other professional membership?
This is your personal choice. Things to consider are: Q1. Do you or your clients access funding through WINZ, ACC etc that require you to maintain your current professional associatio? A1. ANZAPT is working towards becoming a recognised professional health association but at the moment you would need to maintain your current professional membership in order to access these funding supoorts for your clients. Q2. Besides working with children, what other types of work do you do? A2. If you work part time in another role such as teacher, social worker, counselling adults, you may be required to maintain your other professional memberships.
My Training/Qualifications
I have a Child Play Works Post Graduate CCPT Diploma, can I join?
Yes you can. If you hold this Qualification you will be eligible for Provisional membership. If you hold this Qualification and you have a total of 300 Client contact hours, you will be eligible for Registered CCPT membership (CCPT-R).
I am in Child Play Works training program and I am unsure whether to continue with the CPW Post Graduate Diploma or change to CPW Cert CCPT Foundational qualification. How will this affect my eligibility for membership?
This is a common question for many who are currently in training. It is a personal choice which qualification you ultimately decide to persue, however there are a few things to bear in mind: 1. To be eligible for Provisional membership, ANZAPT requires a CCPT qualification. The new certificate, CPW Cert CCPT Foundational has lower requirements meaning you would have a qualification sooner than the CPW Post Graduate Diploma. So you could become a Provisional member sooner and have increased benefits such as a Provisional Practicing Certificate. 2. In order to be eligible for Registered CCPT membership (CCPT-R), further study, client contact hours, supervision and personal therapy hours are needed beyond CPW Cert CCPT Foundational. 3. Provisional membership can be held for a maximum of 4 years.
I am in a training program but I am not yet in CCPT Supervision. Can I become a member?
Yes, you can become an Affiliate member. When you begin supervised practice and hold a supervision contract you will be eligible for Student membership.
